Two more Dutch docs were nominated for a Golden Panda Award in the category "Best Nature & Environmental Protection Award": The Last Days of Shishmaref by Jan Louter (Miroir Films) and Gimme a Hug (by the Protect the Sharks Foundation).
In addition, The Sichuan TV Festival is organizing a ‘Holland Day’ by showing the best of recent Dutch animated films and documentaries, including Academy Award winner Father and Daughter (Michael Dudok de Wit, 2000), Big Buck Bunny (Sascha Goedegebure, 2008), Notebook (Evelien Lohbeck) and The Phantom of the Cinema (2008) by Erik van Schaaik, and the documentary Beyond the Game (2008) by Jos de Putter in which Dutch 'Grubby' and Chinese 'Sky' are competing with each other at the World of Warcraft championships.
In Diary of a Times Square Thief, produced by Eyeworks Film & TV Drama, director Klaas Bense is looking for the author of a mysterious diary that he bought on Ebay. The diary shows how the ambitious writer slips and fails, the final pages are cut out with a knife.
