Dutch feature HUNTING & SONS selected for New Directors/New Films in New York

HUNTING & SONS, second feature by director Sander Burger, is selected for the New Directors/New Films festival in New York, presented by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Society of Lincoln Center.

New Directors/New Films is one of the premier international showcases for the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world. The festival has introduced many talented directors who have become major figures in world cinema, including Chantal Akerman, Pedro Almodóvar, Kelly Reichardt, Spike Lee, Darren Aronofsky, Wim Wenders and Wong Kar Wai.
The 39th edition of New Directors/New Films will take place from March 24 - April 4, 2010 at the MoMA and The Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York.

Dutch director Sander Burger is considered an important Dutch film talent. His first feature OLIVER ETC. was a national arthouse success which established him as an actors-director.
Producer of HUNTING & SONS is NFI Productions, it is their second film at New Directors/New Films, last year CAN GO THROUGH SKIN by Esther Rots was selected.

HUNTING & SONS. is a psychological drama with Dutch actors Dragan Bakema and Maria Kraakman playing newlyweds leading a cute suburban life. Everything is perfectly lovely. Then things get even better: Sandra is pregnant. But the good news starts a small crack in the adorable façade and the pretty scenery of their life starts to fall away. Panicked about the future, Tako takes increasingly drastic measures. In his second feature film, director Sander Burger paints a sharp and trenchant portrait of the pitfalls of happiness.

THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD by Radu Jude, a co-production from The Netherlands (Circe Films) and Romania is also selected for the festival.
