Frogs and Toads receives Golden Film

Dutch feature film Frogs and Toads receives Golden Film for over 100.000 tickets sold
 
The Dutch family film Frogs and Toads, by Simone van Dusseldorp, has been awarded a Golden Film for over 100.000 visitors since it’s release on February 11, 2009.

The Golden Film is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001. The prizes are intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films. The total number of tickets sold after a film's release determines whether a prize is awarded. The Golden Films are awarded to Dutch full length feature-films and is handed out when a film has drawn in more than 100.000 visitors.

"I am so happy with the Golden Film for Frogs and Toads, a movie that I made especially for my six-year-old daughter. It is fantastic that 100,000 visitors already saw it," says director Simone van Dusseldorp.

Frogs and Toads is a musical road movie about six-year-old Max who thinks that his brother will never speak again and that only frog spawn can cure his brother. Together with his friend Jesse Max makes an exciting journey through meadows and through the forest. Will Max and Jesse find the frog spawn they need?

Frogs and Toads is produced by Lemming Film in coproduction with KRO Television and BosBros. Film-TV Productions. FROGS AND TOADS is one of the two new Junior Cinema film projects, an initiative of the Netherlands Film Fund and the Public Broadcasters to produce contemporary Dutch youth movies. The film is created with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund, the CoBo fund and the Dutch Cultural Broadcasting Fund.

A-Film Entertainment provides the theatrical distribution. Frogs and Toads is currently running in 103 theatres in the Netherlands.
