Line-up Tribeca 2010

KISS by Dutch director Joost van Ginkel is one of the short films selected for the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The festival will take place from April 21 – May 2, 2010 in New York.

Out of 2717 short film submissions Tribeca selected 47 films. KISS is selected for the ‘Identity Theft’ programme, which questions who we are and what we want. KISS is the only film from the Netherlands screening at Tribeca and will compete for the prize for Best Narrative Short.

In KISS a soldier father and his young son share a shave and say goodbye before a military mission. The film is created in memory of the fallen soldiers in Afghanistan. The film is produced by Column Film for the Dutch short film series NPS Kort! 2009.

KISS is the second short film by Dutch director Joost van Ginkel. SAND, Van Ginkel’s first short film, was selected for the Venice International Film Festival in 2008 and won 10 international film awards. Van Ginkel is now working on his feature film debut SURFACE.

Following the attacks on the World Trade Center the Tribeca Film Festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001 to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of the lower Manhattan district through an annual celebration of film, music and culture.
