Pivot nominated for Golden Melies
On the closing day of Imagine: 26th Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival, Saturday, April 24th, the Méliès jury, consisting of Victor Ponte (Habbekrats), Marieke Kremer (film critic at Sp!ts) and Jos Stelling (film maker), nominated the Dutch animated short film PIVOT by André Bergs for the Golden Méliès Award for Best European Short Fantastic Film.
From the jury: "In seemingly simple, graphical forms, two characters are rushing at high speed through a deserted town. As they go faster and faster, the images are becoming ore abstract, rendering the atmosphere of fear and paranoia perfectly. PIVOT is ingeniously constructed, unique in style and bursting with energy".
The Méliès Award, named after the French film pioneer Georges Méliès (1861-1938), is an initiative of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF). More information is available at www.melies.org
