Golden Film for The Hell of '63

THE HELL OF ’63, directed by Steven de Jong, received the status of Golden Film, for over 100.000 tickets sold in the Netherlands, since its release on December 17, 2009. Following AVATAR, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 2 and ANUBIS AND THE REVENGE OF ARGHUS, THE HELL OF '63 currently holds 4th position in the Top 20 of grossing films in the Netherlands.

The Golden Film is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001. The prizes are intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films. The total number of tickets sold after a film's release determines whether a prize is awarded. The Golden Films are awarded to Dutch full length feature-films and is handed out when a film has drawn in more than 100.000 visitors.

THE HELL OF '63, with in the main roles Cas Jansen, Chris Zegers, Chava in 't Holt and Lourens van den Akker, is a film about hardship, love and will power. Under pressure from the media and despite the harsh weather, the board of the Frisian “Elfsteden” committee, decides that the “Elfstedentocht” has to continue. It will become a day of dramatic and heroic events that will change the lives of Annemiek, Kees, Sjoerd, Henk and Dieuwke forever.

THE HELL OF '63 is produced by Steven and Klaas de Jong. Bridge Entertainment Group (part of Foreign Media Group) in cooperation with E1 Entertainment Benelux provides theatrical distribution. The Hell of ’63 is currently running in 84 theatres in the Netherlands.
