Winter in Wartime selected for EFA Award 2009

The European Film Academy and EFA Productions gGmbH have announced the titles of the 48 films on this year’s selection list, the list of films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2009! With 25 countries represented, the list once again illustrates the great diversity in European cinema.

From the Netherlands, Winter in Wartime by Martin Koolhoven, has been selected. Winter in Wartime is written and directed by Martin Koolhoven and produced by Isabella Films (Els Vandevorst, The South) and Fu Works (San Fu Maltha, Black Book).

The story of Winter in Wartime takes place during the last cold winter of the Second World War in the Netherlands. Suddenly 14-year-old Michiel becomes responsible for the care of a British pilot. This turns out to be more dangerous than he could ever imagine.

In the coming weeks, the 2,000 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the different award categories. The nominations will then be announced on 7 November at the Sevilla European Film Festival in Spain.

The 22nd European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place in Germany’s Ruhr Metropolis on 12 December.
